Objective To provide a guide in the course of the daily operation and accident emergency response. Methods The survey was conducted with questionnaires among heads of households collected by stratified radom sampling. The head of a household was asked about residential type and structure, the sources of drinking water, milk, type and frequency of main vegetables. Results Two-storied and more than two-storied houses were dominant around Yangjiang nuclear power plant, single-storey houses and tile-roofed houses were dominant around Hongyanhe nuclear power plant. The top three of wall construction materials around the two nuclear power plants were orderly brick, stone and beton. Glass window shelters were in the majority. Drinking water of residents was mainly from wells and waterworks. Milk comes from nonlocal packaged products. The top five high frequency vegetables the residents around Yangjiang nuclear power plants eat were orderly cabbage, zucchini, string beans, tong dish, cucumber, and those around Yangjiang nuclear power plant were orderly chinese cabbage, leek, celery, cabbage, spinach. Conclusion Building and dietary structure around Yangjiang and Hongyanhe nuclear power plants are incongruence. Government can make decisions to collect foods for nuclides monitoring according to building and dietary structure baseline data, and take emergency measures to direct nuclear safety radiation protection for residents when nuclear accident takes place.

Objective To explore the feasibility of determining radiosensitivity of human tumor cell lines in vitro using single cell gel electrophoresis(SCGE). Methods Three human tumor cell lines were selected in this study, HepG2、EC-9706 and MCF-7. The surviving fraction(SF) and DNA damage were detected by MTT assay, nested PCR technique and comet assay respectively. Results MTT assay:The SF of HepG2 and EC-9706 after irradiated by 2、4and 8Gy was lower significantly than that of MCF-7, which showed that the radiosensitivity of HepG2 and EC-9706 was higher than that of MCF-7. But there was no statistical difference of SF between HepG2 and EC-9706. SCGE:The difference of radiosensitivity among these three tumor cell lines was significant after 8Gy γ-ray irradiation. Conclusion The multi-utilization of many biological parameter is hopeful to evaluate the radiosensitivity of tumor cells more objectively and exactly.

Objective To explore the changes of GADD45A gene expression in human peripheral blood induced by 60Co γ ray irradiation and offer the fundamental materials for the research of boimarker in early diagnosis of radiation damage. Methods Human peripheral blood was irradiated to 0.05~3Gy 60Co γ-ray and changes of GADD45A genes in peripheral blood were detected by Real~time fluorescent quantitative PCR. Results After irradiation, the expression of GADD45A genes in human peripheral blood changes significantly. Specifically, from 0.05Gy to 0.6Gy, the expression of GADD45A genes decreased with the increase of irradiation dose. And from 1Gy to 3Gy, the expression of GADD45A genes increased with the increase of irradiation dose compared with the control. Conclusion 60Co γ ray irradiation can induce the changes of GADD45A gene expression in human peripheral blood. And the changes of GADD45A gene shows fine dose-effect relationship from 1Gy to 3Gy. From 0.05Gy to 0.2 Gy, peripheral blood lymphocytes showed stimulation effect.

Objective To compare the dose distribution between three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT) and intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) in treating esophageal carcinoma (middle thoracic section and under thoracic section) and to select reasonable treatment methods for esophagus cancer. Methods Ten cases with cancer of the middle thoracic section and under thoracic section esophagus were chosen for a retrospective treatment-planning study. 3DCRT and IMRT plans were created for each patient:Some critical indicators were envolved in evaluing the treatment plans of IMRT (5B and 7B) and 3DCRT (3B), such as, PTV coverage and dose-volumes to irradiated normal structures. Evaluation indicators:prescription of 50Gy. total lung volume(V5,V10,V20),mean lung dose(MLD),spinal cord(Dmax),heart (V40) and conformality index(CI). Each plan was evaluated with respect to dose distribution, dose-volume histograms (DVHs), and additional dosimetric endpoints described below. Results There is no significance of CRT and IMRT technique in protection of total lung volume, mean lung dose, spinal cord(Dmax),target,CI and heart. Conclusion As To radiotherapy of esophagus cancer of the middle thoracic section and under thoracic section,IMRT has no advantage compared with 3DCRT, the selection of plan should be adapted to the situations of every patient.

Objective To study effect of different curvature Fletcher of uterine tube on the dose of major organs around uterus. The experimental data was provided to help doctors choose suitable Fletcher of uterine tube in afterloading treatment. Methods Fletcher of uterine tubes produced by Netherlands Nucletron Company had three kinds of curvature(15°, 30°,45°). We chose three clinical common treated lengths(4cm,6cm,8cm). These end points of three lengths of each tube were assumed at cervical orifice, The afterloading plans were designed by Nucletron GENIE TPS(V1.0), we recorded the coordinate and time of all dwelling points. Then anthropomorphic pelvic phantom was scanned by GE LightSpeed16 CT machine and the CT images were transferred to 3D visual after-loading brachytherapy simulating planning system (3DV-TPS). According the coordinate and time of all dwelling points from GENIE TPS, 3DV-TPS rebuilt the dose distribution of three lengths of each tubes. The absorbed dose of some nomal organs in different treatment condition was got from same coordinate. Results Even if the treated length of three tubes is same, the absorbed dose of some nomal organ was different, the difference of absorbed dose of bladder is biggest(13%~89%). bladder center(4%~38%), rectum(1%~12%), A point(1%~6%), B point(6%~16%), F point(4%~25%), ge outside lymph node (1%~13%), ge total lymph node (2%~16%), ovary(5%~18%), femur(3%~22%). Conclusion It is necessary to carefully choose suitable Fletcher of uterine tube before the afterloading treatment.

Objective To study the effect of inhibition of Nimotuzumab(h-R3) and ionizing radiation on the growth of human esophageal carcinoma cells. Methods Human esophageal carcinoma cells were treated with h-R3 or irradiation and the both, respectively. The cell growth inhibition was assessed by MTT. Cell cycle and apoptosis were analyzed by FACS. Results The growth of Ec109 cells treated with h-R3、radiation and h-R3 combined with irradiation were all inhibited. The inhibition rate was concentration-dependent and time-dependent. The group of h-R3 combined with irradiation resulted in greater inhibiting rate(43.74%), compared with h-R3 group and radiation group(P < 0.05). FACS revealed that combined treatment with h-R3 and radiation could not only increase cell cycle(G2 phases) arrest but also cell apoptosis of Ec109 cells. Cells of G2(31.67%) and apoptosis rate(23.62%) for h-R3 combined with radiation group were the highest. Conclusion h-R3 significantly inhibits the proliferation of Ec109 cells in vitro. Combined treatment with h-R3 and radiation shows synergism for the inhibition of esophagus carcinoma cells growth.

Objective To develop a 220Rn chamber for calibrations of 220Rn measurement device. Methods Based on a programmable constant temperature and humidity testing device, a 220Rn chamber with inner sources was designed. The granular 220Rn sources were prepared by using the adsorption method of resins. In order to produce a uniform distribution of 220Rn in the chamber, four minielectric fans were used to adjust the wind directions and speeds in the chamber in addition to a reasonable setting of the sources. Results Under the same temperature and humidity conditions, 220Rn concentrations in the chamber fluctuated within only ±3%, and the spatial distribution of 220Rn was nearly homogenous in an effective volume of about 200 L. 222 Rn concentrations in the chamber could be neglected. Conclusion 220Rn concentrations in the chamber are stable and uniform, the chamber can be used for calibration or intercomparison experiments of 220Rn measurements.
