    Objective To analyze the effect of fractionated irradiation with variable fraction sizes (VFS) on the mice bearing SK-BR-3 tumor.Methods The mice were divided into six groups, four groups were irradiated with different VFS protocols, one group was irradiated with constant fraction size (CFS) protocol, one group was non-irradiated as a comparing group.For these groups of mice, the average surviving period (ASP) and the change of tumor volume were observed and compared.Results The ASP of irradiated groups are all longer than that of non-irradiated group, and the difference of ASP between these groups have the statistical significance respectively.Also the ASP of the groups irradiated with VFS protocols are all longer than that of the group irradiated with CFS protocol, but the difference is of no statistical significance.For the mice irradiated with decreasing fraction sizes, the ASP is longer than that of the mice irradiated with corresponding increasing fraction sizes, but the difference has no statistical significance.For these six groups, the tumor volumes are all increasing in this experiment, and the increasing speed of non-irradiated group is faster than that of all the other irradiated groups.Conclusion For the same absorbed dose, the VFS irradiation protocol, especially the protocol with decreasing fraction sizes can prolong the ASP of mice, so perhaps this kind of protocol can be used in clinics to improve the effect in radiotherapy.

    Objective n this study, we investigated the inhibiting effects of combination treatment E838 with γ-ray on mouse liver cancer H22.Methods 0.2ml H22 cell suspension (5×107cells/ml) were subcutaneously was injected into flanks of IRM-2 mice.The inoculated mice were invited into 5 groups:control;simple E838 groups with dose at 5, 7.5 and 10 mg/kg, daily, total 7 times;simple cytoxan groups with dose at 25 mg/kg (3 times);only irradiated with 1 Gy γ-ray and E838 combined with γ-ray group.Results The tumor inhibiting rate for E838 treated group were 50.6%, 62.73% and 54.82% respectively, there were significant difference compared with control group (P<0.01).The tumor inhibiting rate for the combination group were 52.98%, 67.61% and 59.15% respectively (P<0.05, compared with control group), but there were no significantly difference between E838 groups and combination groups.Conclusion These data suggest that E838 have significant inhibiting effects for inoculated tumor in mouse.The tumor inhibition rate of combination groups seems to be higher than that of E838 treatment groups, but not significantly.

    Objective To evaluate the possibility of predicting the radiosensitivity of tumor cell lines using the assay of the mtDNA4977bp deletion.Methods The mtDNA4977bp deletion of HepG2 cells and PC-3 cells were detected by nested PCR after irradiated by various doses of x-ray.Results The radiation-induced mtDNA4977bp deletion of the tumor cell lines of HepG2 and PC-3 were detected after irradiated.There was a dose dependent in the mtDNA4977bp deletion of two tumor cell lines.The deletion rate of HepG2 was higher significantly than that of PC-3 at each point of radiation dose (P〈0.05), which implies that the radiosensitivity of HepG2 was higher than that of PC-3.Conclusion The assay of the mtDNA4977bp deletion may be an approach to predict the radiosensitivity of tumor cells.

    Objective To investigate the radioprotective value of low dose multi-slice spiral CT (MSCT) in pediatric patients with foreign body in trachea and bronchi compared with conventional dose.Methods 80 children suspected airway lesions were prospectively studied with low dose MSCT and randomly divided into four groups (50mA, pith=3;50mA, pith=6;30mA, pith=3;20mA, pith=3) averagely.Results The weighted CT dose index (CTDIw) and dose length product (DLP) in low dose group was lower than in conventional dose group with the significant difference (P<0.01).The imaging quality in low dose group was mostly better with no the significant difference (P>0.05), but inferior to conventional dose group, while there is no poor images to influence the diagnosis of foreign body in trachea and bronchi.There was no significant difference (P>0.05) between post processing images with different doses.Conclusion The low dose scanning will be accuracte in diagnosis of foreign body in trachea and bronchi, and beneficial to protect the children with lower radiation dose.The 20mA to 50 mA tube currents may be used as conventional dose for evaluating foreign bodies in the airways in the children.

    Objective To develop a feasible method of dose reconstruction with quartz TLD for nuclear accident dose reconstruction.Methods To prepare samples of quartz for TLD measurement, analyze the pre-dose characteristic of the quartz TLD, and establish a dose calibration method of the quartz TLD.Results The main information of pre-dose characteristic of the quartz TLD and have been obtained the methods of sample preparation and dose calibration of quartz TLD established.Conclusion The method is very significant in nuclear accident dose reconstruction.It is very easy to collect sample from a nuclear accident locale and to have TLD measure, but quality control is necessary in the sample preparation.

    Objective To Study the influences of dose, time, distance and irradiation mode on induced radioactivity by measuring a Varian Clinac 2100C/D accelerator.Methodse The induced radioactivity was measured in different dose, time, distance and irradiation mode by using of 450P model dosemeter.The resultes was analysised.Results The induced radioactivity is direct ratio with dose, inverse ratio with time and distance.In different iraadiation mode, the induced radioactivity is different.Conclusione The induced radioactivity level of accelerator is relaed with dose, time, distance and irradiation mode.

    Objective To investigate the radioactivive level of water body in collapse pit caused by mining, develop and use the resource reasonably, the water body in collapse pit was studied in detail.Methods radioactivity analysis was made according to the national standard.Results The average activity concentration of gross-alpha in the water was 4.99×10-2Bq/L.The average activity concentrations of gross-beta was 4.30×10-1Bq/L.The average activity concentrations of Ra was 1.28×10-2Bq/L.The results show that the average activity concentrations of gross-alpha, gross-beta and Ra were higher significantly than those in the groundwater and tap water.Conclusion The radioactive mornitoring of water body should be paid attention to when the water in collapse pit caused by mining is developed and utilizated and the environment ecological system recovered.

    Objective To research the fuction and significance of POMC derived peptides and Hsp 70 by stress damage of high power microwave radiation in rats.Methods 54 male Wistar rats were sacrificed at 6h, 24h and 48h after exposure to high power microwave radiation, using radioimmunity and westernblot to detect β-EP, ACTH and Hsp 70.Results The contents of β-EP in hypophysis decreased significantly (P<0.01), β-EP (P<0.05) and ACTH (P<0.05) in serum increased markedly after 6h radiation;β-EP and ACTH in serum respectively returned to normal level after 24h and 48h.Hsp 70 expression increased significantly 6h and 24h after 100mW/cm2 radiation (P<0.05);24h after 200 mW/cm2 radiation, Hsp 70 expression increased obviously (P<0.05).Conclusion High power microwave radiation can influence thalamencephalon-pituitary nerve-endocrine network function and Hsp70 expression, POMC derived peptides and Hsp participated in the pathophysiologic process of heat stress damage and repair

    Objective To observe the peroxidation of rat hippocampus after acute or chronic microwave irradiation and research the protective effects of micronutrient intervention.Methods by microwave at 15 W/cm2 for 20min everyday for 8 weeks continuously.The peroxidation damage of hippocampus by microwave and the protective effect of micronutrient intervention were detected by measuring SOD、MDA、GSH-PX and ROS.Results The acute and chronic microwave irradiation could induce the down-regulating SOD activity, GSH-Px activity, ROS inhibition (P<0.05) and up-regulate the content of MDA obviously (P<0.05).After micronutrient intervention, SOD and GSH-Px activity increased (P<0.05), the content of MDA reduced (P<0.05), ROS inhibition resumed (P<0.05).Conclusion The acute and chronic microwave irradiation can induce the oxidative of rat hippocampus.Micronutrient intervention has protective effect on the peroxidation damage induced by microwave irradiation.

    Objective To preliminarily explore the radioprotective effects of the aqueous extract of S.obval-lata DC.Edgew on mice from radiation injury.Methods mice from radiation injury, as target of the research, are been intragastricly administrating and receive different doses of aqueous extract of S.obval-lata DC.Edgew in IR+medication groups, and corresponding amount of normal and saline for IR group.After 5 days, mice are been receive a total body irradiation at a does of 6Gy X-ray.Then repeated intragastric administrating was given for 5 days and observed.On the 18th day, the body weights to measure, RBC、WBC、PLT、Hb of venous blood, the bone DNA contents (A value) and marrow nucleated cell population, the spleen weights.Results In IR+medication groups, IR group compared with the body weights, WBC、PLT, the bone marrow DNA contents (A value) and nucleated cell population of mice rise obviously, there were significant statistical differences among them, P<0.01 (PLT of IR+LD group、the spleen weights、the spleen index, P<0.05), The differences are more obvious in the IR+HD group.However, There are no statistics difference to the contents of RBC、Hb of peripheral blood in all irradiation groups, P>0.05.Conclusions The active components of the aqueous extract of S.obval-lata DC.Edgew express out the obvious radioprotective effects for hemopoietic system of mice and can stimulate proliferation of the spleen cell, improve immune function of mice.No obvious difference to the contents of RBC、Hb of peripheral blood in all irradiation groups is possiblly related with the long metabolism cycle of RBC、Hb and the delay of hematopoietic tissue delivery RBC and Hb synthesis.

    Objective To observe the inhibitory effect of E838 combined with cyclophosvnamide (CTX) on lymphoma (LM), and the E838 reducing poison influence to CTX.Methods the mice with LM were separated into 8 groups treated with control, different E838 concentration, different E838 concentration combined with CTX, CTX.The therapy effects in each group were compared.Results The tumor weights in all E838 treated groups were significantly lower than that of control group.All indexes in combination groups were better CTX group.Conclusion E838 showed inhibitory effects on LM, could increase CTX therapy effects and elevate mice immune system function.

    Objective To study the Extract of Achynanthis Bidentatae (ABE) on hemopoieisis of CFU-GM in irradiated mice and its mechanism.Methods Using techniques of hemopoietic progenitors in vitro and diffusion chamber implantation invivo, the authors observed the effects of Extract of Achynanthis Bidentatae (ABE) on white blood cell (WBC)、bone marrow cell (BMC) and colony forming unit-granulocyte/macrophage (CFU-GM).Results it is shown that the number of WBC and BMC in the ABE (50mg/l、100mg/l、200mg/l) and the number of CFU-GM in diffusion chamber in vivo, were significantly higher than that of irradiated control group, but there was no stimulation activity in vitro on irradiated mice.Conclution ABE can stimulate the proliferation and differentiation of the CFU-GM and may protect bone marrow of irradiated mice.
