    Objective To study the effect of γ-irradiation on cycle of thymocytes cell and proliferation in mice and the radioprotective effect of Eucheuma gelatinae polysaccharide (EGP)in term of cellular level. Methods The mice were randomly divided into 5 groups, the normal group, the model group and 3 EGP treatment groups. EGP of three different doses was applied to different groups respectively for 10 days before whole body irradiation with γ-rays (2.0Gy). The percentage of cell cycle was tested by flowcytometry after 20 h, spontaneous incorporation of thymocytes and proliferation response of splenocytes to ConA and LPS were examined. Results The percentage of thmocytes increased markedly in G0/G1 phase (P <0.01), the percentage of its decreased in s and (M + G2)phase (P <0.01), compared with normal group after γ-rays (2.0 Gy). EGP raised S、G2 +M phase after irradiated mice compared with single irradiated group (P <0.01); EGP could enhance spontaneous incurporation of 3 H-TdR into the mocytes, the proliferation response of splenocytes to ConA and LPS were markedly accelerated in the radiation mice treated EGP, compared with model group. Conclusion EGP has the protectire role in cell radiation injury.

    Objective The briefly experimental verification for 《determination of 241Am in food》 has been described. Methods The overall recovery, the MDL of method and decontamination experiment has been done by standard analysis procedure. Results The overall recovery is 76.26 ±4.1%, The MDL is 3.4×10-5 Bq/g ash, decontamination factor is higher than 103 for Po, 102 for U, Th, Pu and 60 for 237Np. Conclusion The results showed that the overall recovery is quite high and reliable, the MDL of method is able to meet examining 241Am limited values in foods. The obtained decontamination factors of recommended procedure can meet analysis of 241Am in food examination. Verifying results of the procedure are satisfied by using 243Am spike and 241Am standard reference material.

    Objective To explore a method for isolating、identifying and culturing the rat trachea-bronchia epithelial cells. Methods The rat trachea-bronchia epithelial cells were isolated by digestion with pronase and brushing with cell brush, identified using confocul and cultured in entire F12 media with no serum.Results With this method, cells in high purity and high viability could be obtained, and about 106 cells per rat. The cells grow well in entire F12 media with no serum.Conclusion The method is useful for isolating rat trachea-bronchia epithelial cells and the entire F12 media with no serum is effective for culturing.

    Objective To revise the Occupational Health Examination Form for Radiation Workers, which is served as annex 3 of Management Regulations for Occupational Health Surveillance (Decree No. 23 of Ministry of Health, P. R. China), so as to fu rther improve and standardize the occupational health management for radiation workers. Methods Based on corresponding laws, standards and general principles of occupational medicine. Results The new version of the Form was established and passed auditing.Conclusion The theoretical foundation, intention and methods of the revision process are briefly introduced. Requirements and necessary recommendations for implement the new Form are also described.

    Objective To analyze the shielding of the radiation generated by electron accelerators and is impact on environment.Methods An example of 20MV electron accelerator is given.Based on the characteristics of electron accelerator radiation source, the method for radiation protection is discussed, then dose estimate method and dose measurement method are applied for environmental assessment. Results By estimation and measurement, annual dose of each concerned point is proved to be smaller than the defined dose. Conclusion If radiation protection is enforced when people build this equipments, the radiant impact on environment can be accepted.

    Objective A rapid diagnosis method was developed to detect Rubella virus infection in radiation workers. Methods Modified ELISA method was used to detect the level of lgG and lgM antibodies in 514 in Jinan district.Results 90.47% of 514 cases was shown to be resistant against Rubella virus; 6.42%were sensitive type; 0.78% belonged to be reinfected.Conclusion Detection of Rubella virus in exposed radiation workers was imperative, and vaccine against Rubella virus was also needed to eliminate the infection risk.

    Objective To study the environment affection of the radiation from industrial wastewater drained by one enterprise. Methods Researches were made into the level of radionuclides and activity of alpha and beta in wastewater drained in main production line of the enterprise. Results When the mixture water was measured, there is markedly more waste water of substandard.Conclusion The reason is that waste water was discharged before the precipitation. One Rare-earths factory is the main pollution factor. So we suggest adding the precipitation equipment to make the discharged wastewater be up to the state standards.

    Objective To best understand the relative biological effectiveness (RBE) of 0.5 MeV neutrons to induce micronuclei in the root-tip cells after irradiation as dry dormant seeds.Methods To observe the difference of the frequencies of micronuclei induced in the root-tip cells of onion seedlings after irradiation as dry dormant seeds by 0.5 MeV neutrons from an accelerator and by γ rays from a 60Co source.Results The frequencies of micronuclei induced by unit dose of 0.5 MeV mono-energetic neutrons from an accelerator and γ rays from a 60Co source are 4.36 ±0.17 and 0.031 ±0.002 (%Gy-1), respectively. Thus, the RBE value for 0.5MeV mono-energetic neutrons to induce micronuclei in the root-tip cells of onion seedlings irradiated as dry dormant seeds is about 141 ±11.Conclusion The RBE value of 0.5 MeV mono-energetic neutrons to induce micronuclei in the root-tip cells of Allium cepa onion seedlings irradiated as dry dormant seeds is as high as 141 ±11. Our findings suggested that the repair efficiency of DNA damage induced by mono-energetic neutrons may be lower than that by γrays.

    Objective To investigate of the different[Ca2+] i in exterior of cells promotion function on apoptosis of HL-60 cells induced by irradiation. Methods To put ration dose 32P and different[Ca2+] i into culture of HL-60 and measure the apoptosis rate with FCM after 24 and 48 hours. Result Apoptosis rate increased with the increase of[Ca2+] i which shows an obvious function to promote apoptosis, r24=0.9001 (P=0.0145);r48=0.9343 (P=0.0063).Conclusion [Ca2+] i in exterior of cells has a obvious function in promoteing apoptosis induced by irradiation.

    Objective To observe the mechanism of biological effect induced by low dose γ-rays according to the changes of cell cycle progression of thymocytes and splenocytes in mice. Methods Flow cytometry was used to detect DNA contents of thymocytes and splenocytes after male Kunming mice was irradiated with low dose γ-rays.Results The percentages of G0/G1 phase cells was reduced at dose of 50-250 mGy and the percentages of S phase cells increased significantly at dose of 50-100 mGy on thymocytes in irradiated group in comparision with that in sham-irradiated group. The results showed the stimulating effect of thymocytes from G0/G1 to S phase induced by low dose γ-rays in mice. The inductive doses of 50-250 mGy resulted in progressive increase of the percentages of (G2 +M)phase cells in a dose-dependent manner. The arrests of (G2 +M)phase was induced by 50-250 mGy γ-irradiation. It was found that the percentages of G0/G1 phase cells increased after whole-body irradiation with 10-250 mGy and the percentages of S phase cells decreased after whole-body irradiation with 10 mGy、75 mGy and 250 mGy on splenocytes of mice. It suggested that low dose γ-rays produced the arrest of G0/G1 phase and the suppressive DNA synthesis of S phase on the splenocytes of mice. Conclusion Low dose γ-rays effectively stimulates DNA synthesis on thymocytes and inhibits it at G0/G1 and S phase on splenocytes in mice.
