Objective To study the characteristics and monitoring methods for patient doses in medical diagnostic X-ray so as to offer a scientific basis for the determinations of guidance levels which both coincide with the international practice and our domestic reality. Methods Comprehensive analysis and evaluation was made according to our experimental results and suggestions from the international bodies concerned. Results Patient doses and monitoring methods were discussed for X-ray examinations, X-ray CT, breast and dentist radiography. Conclusion The determination of guidance levels will definitely promote the optimization of radiatio protection.

Objective To provide a feasible method of dose reconstruction in radiation accident or in the epidemiological studies. Methods Ceramics materials (red bricks) which can be collected from the accident field were taken as samples, then quartz particles were abstracted from bricks, dose estimations using the pre-dose thermoluminescence technique were performed to simulated radiation accidents and the result of the estimations were compared with the actual radiation dose. Results The dose estimations using the pre-dose technique have shown a high accuracy. Conclusion A kind of dose reconstruction method is preliminarily established which accident field materials are used as samples, and the important factors which have a effect on the measurement were discussed.

Projective To study the effect of neutron irradiation on extracellular matrix. Methods 120 male wistar rats were divided into four groups at random, and then exposed to neutron of 252Cf-source at the doses of 0, 0.29, 0.62 and 1.20 Gy, respectively. After the exposure of 3 days, 1 month and 2 months, the rats were sacrificed and lung tissue specimens stored at -30℃.Hyaluronan, laminin, type Ⅲ procollagen and type Ⅳ collagen in the lung tissue were detected by the method of radioimmunoassay. Results The differences of the levels of hyaluronan in lung tissue among the groups were unsignificant. The levels of laminin in 0.29, 0.62 and 1.20 Gy groups after the 3-day exposure were remarkably different to those of the control group, and unable to recover completely even 2 months after the exposure. The levels of type Ⅳ collagen higher three irradiated groups were all higher, but not significantly. The levels of type Ⅲ procollagen in the early stage after exposure higher, and later they lowered. Conclusion The levels of some components of extracellular matrix in the lung tissue of rat can be changed by low-dose of neutron irradiation, but their variational modes and degrees depend on the dose of neutron irradiation and the length of period after exposure.

Objective To observe the effect of aconite in jection on the spontaneous incorporation of 3H-TdR into thymocytes in the mice of radiation damage. Methods The spontaneous incorporation of 3H-TdR into thymocytes was examined. Results Experiment in vitro shows that the percentage of the spontaneous incorporation of 3H-TdR into thymocytes in aconite injection (2×10-11μg/mL and 4×10-9μg/mL) group is higher than that of the control group. The percentage in aconite injection (1 μg/kg) with radiation group is markedly than that in control group in the mice of radiation damage in vivo. Conclusion Aconite injection had the stimulating effect in the spontaneous incorporation of 3H-TdR into thymocytes in vitro and aconite injection of proper dosage can enhance the spontaneous incorporation radiation damage mice in vivo.

Objective To study the biochemical effects of neutron irradiation on the BALB/C mice including blood total bile acid (TBA) and blood glucose (GLU).Methods All the 728 male mice were randomly assigned into 4 experimental groups and 1 control group. The animals then were irradiated by the 0~5.5 Gy of 90% neutron respectively. Results The serum TBA of 2.5 Gy irradiation group remarkably increased at 6 h after irradiation. On the 14th day after irradiation the TBA decreased gradually. But until the 28th day, the TBA concentration is still higher than that of the control group. The TBA levels in the 3.0~5.5 Gy groups remarkably increased after each dosage irradiation. In the 2.5, 3.0 and 5.5 Gy irradiation groups, the serum glucose levels of mice decreased remarkably at 12 h after irradiation. On the second day, the GLU concentration elevated remarkably in the 5.5 Gy irradiation group. Conclusion The TBA concentration increased after the each dosage of neutron irradiation. The concentration of GLU decreased after small dosage neutron irradiation.Large dosage neutron irradiation can lead to GLU elevated in the blood.
