The effects of intravenously or intramuscularly injected chelating agents-S186, 8102, 8307, 7603 on the cardiovascular system were examined pharmacologically in dogs. When injected intravenously at 100mg/kg dose (five times the amount of human dose), four chenting agents exert an influence in varying degrees on the blood pressure, EKG and the concentration of serum calcium in dogs. The toxicity of S186, 8102, 8307 were lower.8102 made the concentration of serum calcium decreased significantly 5 min after the injection and return to normal 30 min later.8307 caused the blood pressure intantaneously dropped. The toxicity of 7603 was higher. When it, at 100mg/kg dose, was injected intravenously, the sudden drop of the blood pressure and the heart failure showing the decreases of the heart rates, predominant depression of S-T segment and flatness or inversion of T wave were observed and respiration ceased 2~3 min after injection.Instantaneous and significant changes were also observed in the heart rates, blood pressure and EKG at 50mg/kg dose.On the other hand, no untoward findings were seen in the cardiovascular system by intramuscularly injected chelating agents in dogs.
